Bruce Cassidy

We felt we had got that way a little bit.

It was one of the things that we were, uh, looking for with, uh, with the hiring of Bruce Cassidy, uh, in '22, that we, uh, we needed to get that back.

And I talked at length with the players at the end of the year of '21-22 about the fact that that's what I was seeing, is that we, uh, we had had some entitlement creep into, uh, our organization, and that, uh, you know, that doesn't work.

I think it's a really good spot for a guy like Trent Frederick to be in just because year one went so bad.

He had a Bruce Cassidy, I think, in Boston.

He was the other guy

before Bruce Montgomery.

really good Gorgo is a 1961 British monster film directed by Eugene Lowry it follows a salvage team comprising Americans Joe Ryan and Sam Slade as they witness a volcanic eruption off the coast of Ireland and must contend with the prehistoric deep sea behemoth the geological explosion has freed When opportunity quickly begets capitalism, will these men of hubris fare better than the protagonists of King Kong in domesticating the beast? The novelisation of Gorgo was written by Bruce Cassidy under the pseudonym Carson Bingham.

It was published by Monarch Books in July 1960, nine whole months before the release of the film.

You know, which is, you know, which I've seen the cover and it looks amazing.

I definitely want to read that at some point.

But, yeah, this was like we said, it was the authors credited as Carson Bingham, who's also known as Bruce Cassidy and Monarch.

I think it's Monarch Publications did.

And instead of having to play catch-up, uh, on the entire season from the middle of November onward, which a few years ago resulted in a coach obviously getting fired in the end of, uh, Jay Woodcroft's tenure here, so.

I, I look forward to Bruce Cassidy being the head coach of this team to start the 2027-2028 season.

Like, you know, the U13 coach didn't teach anybody how to pass pucks.

We did one of these with Bruce Cassidy once, and he said something really interesting, and it was that.

He's like, you know, I've got players that... don't play a lot during a game and they don't touch the puck sometimes they don't touch the puck at all and we don't practice a lot now so we have players that might go you know in 10 days like they legitimately might only get a couple of puck touches in and he said you know sometimes we get so focused on the the big picture we forget that sometimes he goes it's like golfing sometimes you just need to go to the range for a little bit and get your get your swings in just as you you know and i think a lot of this applies to minor hockey but when it comes to just puck touches and, and, and passing, like everybody would assume that an NHL team or an NHL player doesn't need to work on that.

But how much do you focus on some of those just like fundamental skills?

I mean, he retained him, but one of the big reasons why he retained him was because a player, or excuse me, a coach that Sonny Mehta really wanted in Chris Knoblauch told him that he needed a little time.

Maybe Bruce Cassidy.

Oh, yeah, Bruce Cassidy is still out there.

Or he's still controlled by Vegas, but I don't think Vegas would shut an Eastern Conference team out from hiring him.

Jay Woodcroft is out there.

Uh, so it, and one of those things where, like, again, when you bring back a roster that's this talented that came within two wins of winning it all, like, they're all about it.

Now, again, I understand when you make a coaching change, you think like, "Oh, well, things must have been bad." Like, they made the change with Bruce Cassidy with, what was it? Nine games to go, right, Jacob?

Something like that.

Yeah, something like that, and, and obviously everybody, we on City Cast, too, were like, "What the heck?" Like, "Why are they doing this?" Well, they bring in John Tortorella, and he does a great job, obviously.
