Brownsville Revival

And so, um, I grew up kind of in an intense culture, where we were sur- surrounded by, um, church and God and, um, fortunately, uh, prayer.

And, um, really my first kinda inklings of God was during, uh, the Brownsville Revival on Florida.

Yeah, crazy.

And we had all, our church kind of, a couple of it had all gone, and I was just a little kid.

And then I got captured again.

And I mention that story because— Her dad was the evangelist at the Brownsville Revival, some very powerful man, anointed, just had a lot of history in his own life.

I don't know this at all.

I don't know Steve Hill.

I was invited by my softball coach to an Easter cantata at Central Christian Assembly in Houston, PA.

And then at 17, I went to the Brownsville Revival.

And God went from being a part of my life.

I knew He was significant to being everything.

And it took me like I was driving when he spoke this and I had to pull over.

I was weeping and knew I was to lay that down.

And so I ended up down in Brownsville, the same place where I had encountered the Lord and interned down there.

Ultimately led me to meeting Pastor Darlene Bishop of Monroe, Ohio.

Everyone would go to camp and like the last night of camp was the night that you would get your prayer language or give your heart to Jesus.

We went to the Brownsville Revival one year for spring break.

We were in it.

And this was like late 90s, early 2000s.

And I'm gonna try my best to explain it on the one hand.

I have thought back on Brownsville and just wept because of the nearness of the Messiah that I felt then.

It was tangible and it was very, very special how near the Lord was in a corporate place.

But then there's also another side where I just don't know if it's possible to sustain that.

There's nothing like that.

My most joyous, blissful moments have been alone in a room by myself.

So, yes, I longed for Brownsville.

It was glorious.

You know, just imagine a thousand people every single night.

I mean, you know because you were part of the Brownsville revival and you were there.

You know, in Toronto, we had an average of a thousand people every single night for 12 years apart from Monday nights, which we took off after six months, you know.

john and carol realized we can't keep going at that level but some nights you know there could be up to 7 000 people you know especially in our youth conference and then you know but an average every night of over a thousand people coming from all over the world and we got immersed into it like halfway through you know in five with about five years after it began and and the power of god was just so immense in that moment and and people would be And this was the amazing thing is that John Arnott had this way of asking people, okay, what was God doing when you were sprinting around the entire auditorium or on the ground and you're going like this? One pastor who pastors like a thousand people church from somewhere close to Washington, D.C., a Methodist pastor.

Just changed them forever and they're never the same again.

Yeah.

So I was at that, at that same time, the Toronto blessing started in 94 and the Brownsville revival started in 1995.

I went at the, at the end of 95 and then, you know, pretty much through the rest of the revival, as much as I could go, I was, I was a part of that.
