Brooks Bandits

yeah.

Interior East has the Brooks Bandits on top right now.

Big surprise.

Interior West, Vernon Vipers.

Long lead pass all the way back down to the auto end.

Protts was born here, obviously, played as U14 for the Junior 67s, U15 for the Junior 67s, U18 for the Sens, then played in the CCHL for the Junior Sens, actually went to the Centennial Cup that year, then Sudbury, Brantford, and lost to the Sens, by the way, in that Centennial Cup to the Brooks Bandits.

In Sudbury, he played with Jabril Touré in Brantford.

He played with Florian Jackey, Jorian Donovan, Thomas Homura.

I'm very

curious how Cole McKegg knew about a Brooks Bandits play.

A little bit of pre-scouting, maybe.

But

At Cowichan Valley, 20 teams in the BCHL.

Brooks Bandits out of Alberta BCHL's two-time defending champions.

Nanaimo gave them a run in the BCHL championship series, uh, last season.

Steven Cocker joins us now from the, uh, BCHL.

So it's, it's, it's been great.

It's been, uh, us, it's challenged us to, to look at maybe some non-traditional opportunities for the BCHL.

A- and before we let you go, on the ice here, uh, Brooks Bandits, they were a powerhouse in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Yeah.

Same thing.

I mean, I, you know, Devin ended up playing for the Brooks Bandits back in the day.

And, you know, obviously 80% of the kids on Brooks Bandits commit to D1 program.

But, you know, he went to Holy Cross and had a great career.

We have other kids from Raleigh that went to Holy Cross as well.

Yeah.

So then kind of jumping to the other side of your career, so more of, like, the junior career, um, in 2024 you began playing for the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL.

So what were some of your favorite memories for playing for your first Canadian Junior Ice Hockey League, um, game?

It was, uh, it was definitely the, the fans.

And that's T.J. Hughes.

T.J. Hughes is, is, he's the next Av that came, they're coming out of the Brooks Bandits program in the AJHL.

Mm.

So this is not an American path, you know, high school into USHL into college that we see all the time.
