But we got married in 2002.

We graduated, so we got married in 02.

Now, I grew up outside of Atlanta in Mableton, Georgia, which is near Six Flags on I-20 West.

and went to Oglethorpe for two years, Oglethorpe University, which is in Brookhaven, and then transferred to Georgia because I wanted to be a sports journalist and graduated with a degree in journalism, worked for a lot of different papers around the South, North Carolina, Florida, and then Virginia at the Newport News Daily Press.

We had a fantastic staff, fantastic coverage there.

And then I was offered an opportunity to get to come home in 2007 and move my family back here and work for the AJC for almost 20 years.

And then we also are interested in film and entertainment because of Assembly Atlanta.

And the final thing is let's get people to come into Dunwoody from Sandy Springs and Brookhaven and Roswell and Alpharetta and experience what we have here in Dunwoody because that's good for everybody.

Yeah.

What do you think gives you that opportunity? Like, why do we have hotels in Chambly and Doraville and like the surrounding cities don't really have that? Is it because of the mall? Is it perimeter area? It is.

We hired the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police to fund a study to see, is it feasible? And that study came back last year and said that, yes, it is feasible for Tucker to fund its own police department.

We've discovered that Tucker pays DeKalb County more for police than at that time Brookhaven was budgeting for police and that Dunwoody was budgeting for police.

We also, the county did a study in 2019 that also said Tucker had the money.

So we've really taken the question of feasibility financially off the table.

So I did that.

I joined the Sandy Springs Police Department before the city of Brookhaven was a city.

I was there a little over a year when the city of Brookhaven in DeKalb County, which borders the city of Atlanta to the north.

So our city limits joined one another.

The city incorporated.

It wasn't even in the city that we worked for.

It was just a building that they had was able to rent office space in temporarily.

So I'm like, I thought we worked at Brookhaven, but we're in Dunwoody.
