Brookfield Place

There was a time when we stood united 25 years ago.

I was working at the World Financial Center, just made a video that's going to be out, I think, in the morning.

And I was talking about just that, about how we were a united country.

25 years ago please check out that video uh and i just found i had i took photos i had was pre-cell phone camera time and i had two yellow disposable kodak cameras in my bag for whatever reason that day and i just found the pictures so the coe will edit my photos into that but uh dr dobson to you um And then we're going to get to the sound.

Downtown is rebuilding.

The office was in the World Financial Center, which is literally right across from the World Trade Center.

It was a real pain in the neck to get there because I lived in Far Rockaway at the time.

You have to take the railroad, Atlantic Avenue or 34th Street.

Yeah, if you want to have a band for 20 years, it's the only way, I think.

Well, and then, you know, the 2018 version of Shearwater, where we did David Bowie's Berlin Trilogy in one of our New Sounds Live seasons down at Brookfield Place, that was like Shearwater with a cast of thousands.

Yeah, it seemed like about 50 people, but I think it was only nine.

And then the public says, "I wanna see Ground Zero." And then we built something on Broadway, and we gave tickets out because people wanted to see what was going on at Ground Zero.

We had to do the first memor- or the first anniversary, right? I mean, I had-- Peter, I had probably over 200 press on that rooftop on the World Financial Center, right, fighting over, you know, where their cameras are gonna be, right? It was just...

And then, and six-month anniversary, one-month anniversary, two-year anniversary, and now here we are 25 years later.

It's, it's just amazing to me.

I talked to one man who was waiting to get on a phone to talk to his wife and see how she was.

And he was in the World Financial Center about 8 o'clock in the morning across from the Twin Towers.

It was,

I don't know, between 8 and 8.30. And the building shook.

9-11 has always been personal.

I worked right across the street in the World Financial Center directly at the foot of the Twin Towers.

I had a friend who worked in the towers for Empire Blue Cross and spent time working in Tower One.

I was there.

because when they're trying to cover something up, they don't want questions like that.

Point number four, the World Trade Center in the summer of 2000 was undergoing major elevator and infrastructure work that I personally witnessed on the 83rd floor.

During the summer of 2000, August of 2000, July of 2000, I was working in a building called the World Financial Center, and it was in the courtyard of the Twin Towers.

It was all one big neighborhood.
