Um, and, uh, I don't actually, I don't really know how accurate this is, but from my understanding, they haven't toured together since like, like 20, like 2007 or something.

we were back and forth with Toronto where Jimmy and I both grown up.

So we ended up writing on the broken social scene album and being like founding members of that.

And then that came out the same time as old world underground, but we made two records before like fantasies was really the, the first time that anyone paid real attention.

Signing to a major label was maybe even worse.

Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene was one of those guys who bought albums based on which label released them.

There were a lot of those guys.

It was one of the most reliable ways to discover new music before the internet

Yeah, that's the thing, too, is, like, that label, Underground Operations, was pretty fucking big in the early 2000s, like, in the Toronto punk rock, and even Canada, too.

It was, like, the same sort of, how do I say it? What do you call it? Like, they were, like, the punk rock broken social scene, if you will.

Right.

I guess it's a good comparison.

Because a lot of the people in the band were in other bands too, right? On the same label as Broken Social Scene, right? But yeah, that's what I would compare them to if no one knows anything about the label.

It's like the Broken Social Scene of punk rock from the early 2000s in Toronto and across Canada.

Well, she was in a band here, a local band called By Divine Right, which, uh, it was a local band, and then she was in Broken Social Scene, which was like indie darlings of the early 2000s, and, uh, Apple used one of her songs.

Apple used it to sell the iPod, and just, she just blew up globally, like, uh-

You know? Because he is da- he dabbles in so many genres and, you know, as we'll talk about maybe next episode, like he is very much entwined with like artists that maybe you wouldn't expect, like Broken Social Scene or Sam Roberts or-
