Brock Hardy

Finishing a period on top because during wrestle-offs, we were kind of talking about it.

But me and Brock Hardy were just watching wrestling, college wrestling with the three-point takedown.

Getting a first period takedown, obviously that's big.

You're getting the first points on the board, but finishing that period on top, finishing 3-0 instead of 3-1, because then you both get an escape.

That was

a good one.

Me and Brock Hardy went out there.

That was a good camp.

You saw he went out.

I think he had three losses last year, and two of them were against – I know one of them was an All-American in Brock Hardy.

And the other one was, if he wasn't an All-American, he was nearly one in Larkin from Arizona State.

That's right.

One 41 in the potential to start Lincoln sled now ski from Florida.

Um, sled sleds tough and there's going to be a new face of 41 Brock Hardy finally graduated.

So he's out.

Um, that'll be Jake Hockaday who is a red shirt.

I lost to CJ.

I won the first match, lost the second two to Chad Redd.

and then bumped up to 149 and wrestled off Brock Hardy for that spot.

That was a weird year.

Really late into the season, I'm not going to lie.

I would kind of wrestle all these guys, and I was having really close matches, and then I'd watch Jesse, and he was just killing all these guys, and it's like, all right, you kind of think it's just like... uh matchups you know but i always told myself and i tell my friends like i'm just not gonna break like how other guys i would see they it seemed like they'd kind of just put their head down whenever he'd give them like a minute and a half really hard you know and i was just telling them like i'm just not gonna let that happen like if he's gonna beat me he's gonna beat me but i'm not gonna break and just get tech you know like that's what it seemed like a lot of people were doing last year and i just wasn't gonna be that guy to put my head down and break so i think um Really after Big 12s, I watched his match with Brock Hardy at National Duels and Big Tens.

And just kind of the positions they were getting in and stuff, I was just like, I'm really not that far off from him.

So that's when I really started to believe it.

And that was the guy to beat to win a national title.

Did you go in – so you went into NCAAs being like, I have to beat Jesse Mendez and I will beat Jesse Mendez.

Yeah, I knew him and Brock Hardy were the guys to beat, and I had to wrestle both of them, so I was pretty confident.

Yeah, I mean, you had already wrestled Brock, right? Yeah, at the duel.

They really do that.

Disc Golf Jake said he compared Brock Hardy to Manu Ginobili, the former San Antonio Spurs.

I can see it.

I don't know if he's got a Eurostep.

That'll be a good one.

I'm pretty sure that Brock was supposed to be on that in that match somewhere.

So we're still working on getting another match for Brock Hardy.

He's trying to get back on RAF.

Um, my freshman year I didn't wrestle off 'cause I was redshirting, and then I wrestled off later, and that one was just us in the room.

Then I wrestled off Brock Hardy 'cause I lost to CJ Red in the wrestle-off.

Mm.

And that one was just, we held them in the room.

in Vegas.

Um, and then Jake Hockaday, who in his matches last year that he got to go out there, compete, stepped out in one dual and then a couple, couple red shirt open tournaments, um, he looked really good as well.

So I, I feel that 141 with the departure of Brock Hardy is in good hands with the- The collection of those three, whoever it is each time out, is gonna do fine.

Um, they're all tough kids, very skilled, so excited for any of them to go out there.

And I think he's in a, a group with a really good room.

He's, he's wrestling with, he's wrestling with Ridge and Antrell and Brock Hardy, and, uh, he, he has to fight and scratch and claw.

I- not that Iowa State's room, um ...

I- Iowa State's room in that weight range was amazing, too.
