Broadway Dance Center

Let me share something with you.

I teach at Broadway Dance Center as well, as a guest instructor.

It's much harder to teach a person who's just a pedestrian, a secretary from an office, than someone who, that's what they do, is dance.

That's all they do is dance classes.

Yeah, no, that's totally fair.

I do think the Vegas community in general A lot more people are allowed to teach, where in, like, at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center, they kinda have to go through a little bit more of a process.

You have to have a little bit more in order to be teaching there.

Okay.

And I'm, I feel I love LA now, but at that age frame, like I was such a New York city girl and LA and New York are so different from each other.

Um, even from like space like New York City or like walking the streets you know how to get to the Broadway Dance Center you kind of seen the same teachers and like I've been going there for years and LA just seemed like too vast and big and huge for me and just I was so overwhelmed at I don't, we might've been there for like two or three weeks, but it just seemed so big.

So how did you choose? Like, was the moment that Jeanette took you to LA, was that the moment you knew LA was the place for you? Or how did you choose between LA and New York city? I

think that moment kind of just like stayed in my heart in a special way.

also like work on a commercial career, like at the commercial studios out in New York, which exists more now, but wasn't as strongly presented at the time.

Right.

I was just going to figure it out myself, go to Broadway Dance Center and make connections and then also go to school at the same time.

Yeah.

And the location is perfect.

It's right next to Broadway Dance Center, right next to all the restaurants on 9th Avenue.

Oh, yeah.

I do BDC or probably dance.

Oh, sure.

Yeah.

You take advantage of as much as you can.

And then I got back from my first tour and I went to Broadway Dance Center and I had heard that you could work at Broadway Dance Center in exchange for classes.

So the year after my first tour...

I worked at Broadway Dance Center and took a ton of dance classes while I auditioned for my next job.

You know, I really took it seriously that I had some catching up to do and I really wanted to do musical theater.

And so I just put my heart into it and that's how I did it.

Fantastic.

I wonder if Broadway Dance Center still does that.

Had no money.

And we were spending our days at Broadway Dance Center.

So we would go there from the morning all the way to the last class.

And we would take as many as we could with our financial situation.

I still I teach dance now.

I was teaching at Broadway Dance Center before I came here to the Cape and I teach at AMDA in New York.

So it's just wild when I think about it.

But I had no Fosse experience, none of that.

Okay.

And when it came time to get towards graduation and figure out what was going to happen next, uh, Broadway Dance Center and Alvin Ailey came to my school for auditions.

Okay.

Amazing.

I got into both, and chose commercial dance.

So I went to Broadway Dance Center.
