A Consumers Association test had publicly questioned its safety.

And then at the 1973 London Motor Show, Vaz put a Lada 1200 on a stand and Satra had its replacement.

I'm guessing, by the way, we didn't really cover that, but I'm guessing the Lada 1200 is just the Vaz 2101.

I guess that would make sense because it's 1200cc, same car.

So when you set out to revive Spyker, you began not with a broad product range, but with the C8.

And the C8 Spyder was the first modern Spyker you unveiled in 2000 at the British International Motor Show.

That's correct.

Why was the C8 the right first statement for the modern brand, and what statement did you need the car to actually communicate to the world before anyone even drove it?

And so the thought is that they were involved in the engine swap in my car.

And in fact, it was prompted by... needing a racing engine for a Bizzarini or an Isso Griffo A3C because at the 1963 Earls Court Motor Show, Isso Revolta was built with a Bizzarini engine in it with four Weber Carverettas and about 400 horsepower or a bit more.

And so anyway...

My Griffo's engine and gearbox were taken out of the Griffo and put into the Issa Revolta.

And then it went into a road car.

At the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show, Jaguar had shown a concept car called the XJ220.

Originally planned with a 6.2-liter quad-cam V12, four-wheel drive, scissor doors, and a name that promised the top speed.

Around 1,500 people put their money down, and what Jaguar and TWR eventually delivered was a 3.5-liter V6.
