uh yeah but yeah like you you would just like to think that you know like they're they're going to be training obviously scabala referencing in his uh x interview that he's going to give the players a few days off but they'll be back in and yeah like the players probably voted for it as well, really.

Like, he might say, right, no one come in until Wednesday, and quite a few of them now are at Bristol Airport getting on a little, like, three-day vacation to their places in Portugal.

You went to an airport as well.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah, I went to Bristol Airport, and it was really hot there.

Yeah, that's always cool, going airside.

But have known from the start of the season that I have a work commitment which has me out of the country, um, for almost the entirety of the Surrey game.

But if, if the plane lands on time, I get to Bristol Airport at 11:35 on day four.

Um, uh, at which point I shall head down, and, uh, I, I really wish you don't have all the tension which would be implied by them still being on the pitch at that, uh, stage of the game.

But at the same time, I would really very much [laughs] like to be there, um, should there be a kind of vital, uh, moment in time.

Could last for days, maybe longer.

H- Are people flying, John? Are people moving?

Yeah, people are moving now.

So as you say, I am not far at all, uh, from the end of the runway at Bristol Airport.

Normally, somewhere favored by plane spotters, but they haven't really been having a good day the last couple of days.

There haven't been a huge amount of planes for them to spot.

So they're saying, "Why isn't there this, this sort of fail-safe system? Why do we have this one point of failure?" So lots of people are getting very angry about this, uh, and you would imagine there will likely be some changes in management of the, uh, NATS, the air traffic control people, and you would imagine that there will be, uh, a lot of calls to make sure that this can't happen again.

I've never been on a five-hour flight before, and if I could do it in two and a half [sighs]

You know, I've only ever been stranded, it was this year, the one where I got stuck at Bristol Airport.

[laughs] That was my, that was my showbiz, "Oh, well, I guess I'll go into the hotel and stay, sleep there for six hours before immediately coming back here."

The maddest-

And that is really commonplace with clients.

You know, I bumped into some clients I'd sold a house to 15 years ago in the services on the way up to Bristol Airport.

And I just, I instantly saw them.

I couldn't remember who they were or what the house was, but I remembered how lovely they were to deal with.

Sometimes we've been to environmental places where we found avian bird flu in lakes people are swimming in, so they're coming into contact with.

One of my favourites favorite project is sampling wastewater off aircraft so in the covid pandemic for example sampling the sewage that comes off planes people using the toilets on planes we'd assumed that even in the red list countries that those people who are on the planes were not meant to be carrying covid that every single plane we tested coming into Heathrow Airport or Bristol Airport and connector flights, they were all positive in the wastewater for SARS-CoV-2, which means that there were contaminated people on that plane, which means that, you know, they're entering the country and bringing it and seeding the population with new variant strains of COVID.

You know, when they were putting people in quarantining hotels, same thing, you know, they're meant to be negative, but we were just checking to make sure that they were in that period.

Every one of those was positive.

I'm delighted that North Somerset is finally getting two fantastic new stations at Pill and Portishead with the reopening of the railway line.

But, and I hate to sound greedy, with Bristol Airport's potential expansion on the horizon, it risks becoming one of the worst connected major airports in the country.

Will my right honorable friend the Prime Minister agree that now need, we need a proper mass transit system for North Somerset and WECA, linking Felton, the new Woodspring development, Long Ashton, and the wider economic area?
