Ned HallHOST
13:02
Only 20 years old, another one of the young players bursting through.
Ned HallHOST
13:05
And a good win for Sydney FC to win up in Brisbane with Faith Webber scoring the only goal in that one.
Ned HallHOST
13:10
A couple of frustrating games for Sydney FC, thrashed by Melbourne City.
Ned HallHOST
13:15
A late goal from a corner, only getting them a draw against Adelaide United.
Grace GillGUEST
13:36
And we just saw the edges of that returning with a Willa Pearson and a Claire Corbett.
Grace GillGUEST
13:40
And I think as that builds out and the season wears on, I think they will only get better.
Ned HallHOST
13:44
Some concerns for Brisbane.
Ned HallHOST
13:46
I mean, they used to be such a powerhouse of the early women's competition, but 0-3 to start the season for Brisbane.
BurkeHOST

Wanderers
PolettiHOST
0:19
get their first win of the season over the Brisbane Raw Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne Victory played out a draw over in Wellington and Adelaide and Perth also played out a draw in Adelaide in a game that honestly I think we might spend maybe 30 seconds on it this
BurkeHOST
0:38
was
PolettiHOST
0:39
it was a game that happened um with both teams having to face each other home and away throughout the course of the season and nothing more.

17 MINS LATER

BurkeHOST
18:09
The results will come through.
BurkeHOST
18:12
And they really are coming through.
BurkeHOST
18:14
They've had, what, a 4-2 win over Brisbane last week, a 5-1 win this week.
BurkeHOST
18:22
What's next for the Central Coast Mariners? A 6-0 win? 4-5-6? I don't know.
Sam LewisHOST
22:48
Yeah, an absolute joy to watch.
Sam LewisHOST
22:51
Speaking of young players doing great things, Western Sydney Wanderers have their first win of the season, a 3-1 victory over Brisbane Raw.
Sam LewisHOST
23:01
Talia Younis lit up the field once again and was on the score sheet through a penalty.
Sam LewisHOST
23:06
What went right, Harrow, for the Wanderers against Brisbane this week that didn't go well for them against Victory in their opening game?
Anna HarringtonHOST
23:13
I mean, that they weren't facing the victory defence, they were facing the Brisbane Raw one.
Anna HarringtonHOST
23:17
But, you know, took their chances, right? They created more, Eunice got involved in all these sort of nice little moments.
Anna HarringtonHOST
23:26
Just, I think you just learn from that if you're the Wanderers.
Anna HarringtonHOST
23:29
I think they've... taken away that experience where, yeah, probably would have been disappointed first up against Victory, who weren't super impressive first up, like neither team really impressed in that game.
Adam PeacockHOST
8:31
Sydney FC 2-1 over Adelaide.
Adam PeacockHOST
8:33
Brisbane 2-1 over Perth.
Adam PeacockHOST
8:35
Melbourne Derby was on 1-1.
Adam PeacockHOST
8:37
Cancelled each other out.
MaestroHOST
11:27
And unfortunately, as a smaller market team, Newcastle.
MaestroHOST
11:31
They should have played Friday night.
MaestroHOST
11:33
Rather than Brisbane? Yep.
Adam PeacockHOST
11:35
How do you come to that? Because that's what – they're in the Champions League elite, so they're playing Tuesday night.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
3:51
Was actually in the lead-up to a goal.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
3:53
So this was in the Mariners-Brisbane game, so it ended up being 4-2 to Mariners.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
3:59
They're away, I've gotten that mixed up.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
4:00
Anyway, but it was the lead-up to Wits' goal, which was their fourth.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
4:12
And that was a great goal from her.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
4:13
Mm-hm.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
4:14
Admittedly, but I have to say Brisbane's defense on that one.
Angela Christian-WilkesHOST
4:19
Whereas this one, they were doing some bamboozling.
Kurt McDonaldCORRESPONDENT
39:19
But going back to Lions and South Hobart, again, it was very much like the raw women where Lions looked like they were a little undone, that their passes just weren't sticking.
Kurt McDonaldCORRESPONDENT
39:32
And you could see when South Hobart, was starting to get deeper and deeper and when they when they the field that when they compact the field so much all really lines uh they try to play through them they try to get around them and like nothing just could work and it was just one of those days where the class of lines just couldn't break down south hobart and look to to david edwards and his boys credit like There was two fine finishes that the boys did too from Roast, and it was the big man up top there, Jesse Sprang.
Kurt McDonaldCORRESPONDENT
40:10
Those two there had quite a good day.
Kurt McDonaldCORRESPONDENT
40:12
So, look, you put it
Robbie ThompsonGUEST
12:03
We know last year they made a fantastic start to the season.
Robbie ThompsonGUEST
12:06
as well so perhaps this is a sign of things to come with a bit more longevity about it as the season progresses the other big surprise for me was the Central Coast Mariners fantastic result for them away to Brisbane 4-2 winners Melbourne City did the business we know they're a big club in the grand final replay against Wellington Phoenix and they got a couple of great goals there as well entertaining entertaining start to their season and let's hope you know it's a big year for the women's football as well we've got the world cup coming up the matildas are playing at home in in about a month's time against colombia um if we can really just light that fire under the female football fans and get everyone around the game um it's going to be a big year for women's football hopefully culminating with the matildas in brazil at the world cup midway through next year
Matt GrubelichHOST
12:54
Robbie, great chatting to you as always.
Matt GrubelichHOST
12:56
Thanks so much for taking the time today and can't wait to speak some football throughout the A-League season.
Mark JHOST
6:43
40 games for the Knicks ending in 2022.
Mark JHOST
6:45
He's gone to CCM, the Jets, Brisbane, out to somewhere in Europe, the name escapes me, and then back to us.
Mark JHOST
6:52
A goal-scoring defender.
Mark JHOST
6:54
He's not afraid of a challenge.
Mark JHOST
7:00
I think this is a pretty shrewd piece of business, to be completely honest.
DCHOST
7:04
Yeah, I think it's, it's a good signing.
DCHOST
7:06
Um, again, it'll be interesting to see how he integrates back into the team, what he brings to the team from, from his time at Brisbane.
DCHOST
7:14
So, uh, again, I- like everything I'm saying, a bit of a wait and see, but I think it, it does look positive at the start of the season anyway.
Stefan MaukHOST
49:02
Yeah
Ben GaruccioHOST
49:02
... with old mate that was at, at Brisbane.
Ben GaruccioHOST
49:04
[laughs] I can't remember his name.
Stefan MaukHOST
49:05
Yeah, Straight.
