Shirley Temple Shirley Temple was a prominent American actor, singer, dancer, and diplomat who achieved significant fame as the top child star in Hollywood from 1934 to 1938.

Her career began in 1931, when she was only three years old, and she quickly rose to prominence after the 1934 release of the film Bright Eyes.

For her work during that year, she received a special Juvenile Academy Award.

She continued to appear in many popular films throughout the 1930s, although the reception of her work changed as she reached adulthood.

Her mother was also officially hired at $520 per week to serve as her hairdresser and personal coach.

The release of Stand Up and Cheer in May 1934 marked her transition into a major star.

Following this success, the studio quickly cast her in another film with James Dunn, titled Baby Take a Bow, and then in Bright Eyes, which was written specifically for her.

As her popularity grew, her parents realized that her current pay did not reflect her status as a top star.

His screen debut was actually a movie called Ready for Love in 1934, which was a romantic comedy with Ida Lupino and Richard Arlen.

But that same year, he won the coveted role of Shirley Temple's beloved Rags in Bright Eyes.

Now, he had to audition for that role, right?

Oh, indeed he did.

This time, they would develop a picture specifically for Shirley from the ground up.

The result was Bright Eyes.

Shirley played Shirley Blake, a little girl living with her widowed mother, who works as a maid for a wealthy family.

When her mother is killed in an accident on Christmas Day, Shirley is left orphaned and caught between the adults deciding who will raise her.

The song took off almost immediately.

Sheet music sales climbed into the hundreds of thousands, with contemporary estimates eventually putting the figure at roughly half a million copies.

Bright Eyes opened in December 1934, and once again, the reviews belonged to Shirley.

The New York Times declared that she had become an authentic screen star, while Time called her a seasoned, skillful actress.

So Jane Withers was a contemporary of Shirley Temple.

She was in a movie with Shirley Temple, Bright Eyes, I think in 1931, don't remember the years wrong.

But anyway, so she's got bangs and she's a brunette and she's really mean to Shirley Temple in this movie.

And audiences couldn't get enough of it.
