Lee GoldbergCORRESPONDENT
13:36
That was at 8 o'clock in the evening, not too far from the Atlantic City, Brigantine area.
Lee GoldbergCORRESPONDENT
13:41
And we remember how it looked because Manhattan went dark.
Lee GoldbergCORRESPONDENT
13:44
We had a 14-foot surge come into Manhattan.
JasonHOST
3:05
So this became the largest geographically on record for a hurricane with a diameter of 101,000 miles.
JasonHOST
3:19
Now, as we said, this storm came on shore as opposed to continuing to move north-northeast like weather systems do, and ultimately came on shore near Brigantine, New Jersey.
JasonHOST
3:36
Now, at that point, it was not a hurricane.
JasonHOST
3:39
It was a post-tropical cyclone.
WilsonHOST

Christy AletoHOST
22:27
Let's get right over to New Jersey correspondent Trish Hartman, who's live in Brigantine.
Christy AletoHOST
22:31
Trish, you've been on the coastline all day feeling the effects, and this nor'easter isn't moving away anytime soon.
Trish HartmanCORRESPONDENT
22:39
That's right, Christy.
Trish HartmanCORRESPONDENT
22:52
Let's show you the ocean here.
Trish HartmanCORRESPONDENT
22:53
The waves are really kicking up as well.
Trish HartmanCORRESPONDENT
22:56
And you can also see here on the north end of the seawall here in Brigantine how much of the dunes are gone.
Trish HartmanCORRESPONDENT
23:02
Now, this is because of this nor'easter storm.
Peyton DomschkePANELIST
36:05
It's 67 in Fortescue, out to Dennis Township, 66 in Dover, Delaware.
Peyton DomschkePANELIST
36:10
Now yes, it's breezy inland with gusts anywhere between 20 to 30 miles per hour, but we're likely to see gusts this afternoon at the water's edge surpassing 30 miles per hour and that's what's happening right now in Brigantine, gusting to 24 miles per hour in Harvey Cedars, and just around 16 down in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Peyton DomschkePANELIST
36:29
With satellite and radar, the reason that we're seeing those stronger wind gusts is because of this offshore coastal storm here, but we're also in between two opposing forces, so you get that really tight pressure gradient and that expansive wind field here as that system really sits stationary.
Peyton DomschkePANELIST
36:46
And in the coming days, we'll still continue to deal with some minor tidal flooding concerns.
Kimberly Doreen BurnsGUEST
13:55
But actually, I always say that because nobody knows the actual town.
Kimberly Doreen BurnsGUEST

Kimberly Doreen BurnsGUEST
14:06
My dad calls it Mayberry by the sea.
Kimberly Doreen BurnsGUEST

Because it's a very small little island.
Seth GrossmanHOST
26:44
About 20 years ago, he bought this property that we old time boomers used to know as real old timers knew it as the trolley barn.
Seth GrossmanHOST
26:56
That was where the trolleys that came down Atlantic Avenue would get to the uptown or inlet towards Brigantine.
Seth GrossmanHOST
27:04
And they had a turntable there that would turn the trolleys around so they could come back out again.
Seth GrossmanHOST
27:10
And then I guess around 1954, 1955, they got rid of the trolleys and they had the Atlantic City black and cream colored buses would go back and forth from from uptown Atlantic City down to Longport and Margate.
