Bride price

My son needs to remember this.

the words of this prophecy in verse 10 it says part of this as this prophecy goes forward says who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies and I want to speak this morning on the bride price now as we look at this this chapter it actually begins speaking about the king and And it says, in verse 2, it says, What my son, and what the son of my womb, and what the son of my vows.

Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink, lest they drink and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

His heart does safely trust in her.

Her price is far above rubies.

The bride price.

It's not that when he says, who can find a virtuous woman? It's not, even as Solomon is looking out, it's not like there wasn't any virgins in the land or wasn't any good women in the land, but when you find them, who can afford to marry them? Who can afford to buy this one? Because in Bible times, they looked at marriage and at the marriage contract a lot differently than we look at it in North America.

So knowing that that's not my other half, but actually someone that is whole that I'm working with to continue to build upon this marriage.

So for me, when it comes to traditions and everything else, I already know I'm going to be under that umbrella when it comes to the dowry and the bride price.

I know the significance of it and I don't mind doing it, but I know it's not the end all be all.

So, of course, there's a respect that comes within it.
