Brickworld

It's kind of like a a fun crossover.

I was hoping to get to Brick World Chicago this year, but I wasn't able to make it.

And then Cody did invite me to go to the Utah.

Oh,

You're going to come to Chicago this year.

Oh, there's the mug I keep seeing everywhere.

You're going to come to Brick World Chicago this year? I was so excited I missed

it.

yeah like this year they had like the huge setup in the hallway because you know that that castle collab couldn't even fit in like the showroom and that was a really cool piece

oh i'd like you on the name yeah he adds a section every year and he's been going to brick world for like 20 years and so it's just it is giant yeah

Yeah, that was super cool to look at.

And it's just so detailed.

I think this

is exactly why.

We've done, I don't know, eight episodes on Lego and price, and I'm going to try to do a talk at Brick World on it, too, of kind of all that research I've done, and this idea of this kind of 10 cent price per part ratio this is not adjusted for inflation right but in terms of price per part what we're saying is back then you'd be spending 14 and now if you're spending over 10 it's a bad deal but back then you were spending 14 and by the way Yeah, absolutely.

We're talking you're talking 36 cents per part back in the day.

Yeah.

Yeah, Chris, you said you just got back from Brick World, Fort Wayne in Indiana.

Yes.

Yeah.

You can see there in the background that you had to go around and actually hunt for all of those at vendors and stuff like that to check them out.

So, yeah, did that and then came home from that, had a little bit of a break and then went into a trip.

out to Washington, D.C., and then went to Brick World in Michigan, and then another Brick World show in Indiana.

Busy,

You have to build that into your mothman build that you're working on in Lego.

If you're building a giant Frankenstein like we saw at Brick World, you have to oh, well, he's got this weird tattoo over here.

What's the deal with that? Or he's got these funny oblong pants because he's wider than he is tall, whatever, right? You have to get intimate with the thing that you are recreating.

And you're recreating something, whereas in a book, maybe you're telling about something for potentially the first time, Is how you engage with the scary important?

so I would look for something that was easily transported, um, but was still cool.

Um, and then the dogs, um, those dogs that I showed at BrickWorld are my four, well now three, current dogs.

Um, because in our family we love our dogs as a whole.

Yeah.

[laughs]

So, so we were at, uh, at BrickWorld Chicago this year, and when we got...

When we were leaving, we got to the airport and our luggage was too heavy.

[laughs] So-

... what, uh, BrickWorld was in June, and-

Yeah.

Uh, I was traveling for work and the Wi-Fi didn't work on the plane, so I was like, "You know what? Whatever.

Doesn't matter." And I brought out a notebook and I started sketching out the preliminary setup for our Brickworld display-

... and doing some Lego math and kind of figuring out how this whole thing was gonna fit together and, and, and getting all the geometry right.

But I'm sure if, if it were 5 letters or 10 letters or 20, if somebody tried to abbreviate it, it may sound silly either way, so.

Yeah.

But, uh, we, we met in the, the waffle line at the Residence Inn in, at Brickworld.

The Resi.

So they have fun activities for kids of all ages with a haunted theme this year for Halloween fun.
