I didn't write a single word off property.

I made sure that I didn't even write a single word back at the hotel I was staying at.

If I had an idea, I would write it down in, in my notes, not in the book itself, because I wanted to be able to come on shows like this.

I wanted to be able to be on webcasts.

I wanted to be able to talk to people at my book signings, and I wanted to, it, with full honesty and transparency, look at people in the eye and say, "Every word was written inside MSP." I don't think I would be able to li- like, be able to lie if I knew the last chapter was written somewhere else, or, like, chapter six was written in the hotel room.

But do you feel, did you feel the presence w- you know, so after eight weeks were you like, "This place is haunted"?

... had you done some paranormal investigations, or was there something that got you interested in... 'Cause it's definitely a paranormal book.

Yes.

Um, the answer is no. Um, as we talked, uh, you know, before we went kind of live here, um, I was born and raised in Salem, Massachusetts.

I lived there from birth until I was 30, and I also spent eight years, from the ages of eight to 16, living in a funeral home in Salem, Massachusetts.

So I think the whole paranormal, macabre, uh, gothic kind of atmosphere was part of me as a kid, one, growing up around so many dead bodies, and also growing up in Salem.

Um, but I had never done a paranormal investigation.

I had never gone on one.

Yeah.

And I found them out front.

And this was the first time that I got to talk to Jenny and Rob from Get Haunted in a non-organized, structured tour way.

That was the first time.

And I wound up staying outside with them and missed the overnight investigation.

Oh, no.

Because I was just hanging out with them.

... with the entire staff of MSP, who are all characters in my book, and with me.

I am flying out there.

We are gonna do a meet and greet with me.

I will sign copies of the book.

They're gonna have copies of the book for sale in the gift shop, you know, if, if you don't already have a copy or bring a copy.

The staff is going to, you know, give a tour of the property, and then I'm going to be giving a book tour for anybody who wants on, of the property.

And I, you know, and I'm going purely for training, right? And, you know, but at this point, um, I've, you know, I've been an author now at this point for t- 14 years, 15 years.

Uh, so you know, the author thing is, is moving, right? You know, and I'm, I have an editor who's been with me since book one, my publishing company.

Um, and I'd already, I'd already, I'd already given my editor, um, the outline to my next novel, um, when I went out to Missouri.

It was, it, it was gonna be a neo-noir dark fantasy novel.

Kinda like a Dark City meets Silence of the Lambs meets The Crow meets, I don't know, uh, whatever, right? And, and, and so I went out there with this thought, "This is gonna be my next book." And the problem was, uh, we started to do things every weekend, um, uh, in the area, the people that I was there with.

'Cause I was also there with other d- detectives from all over the country, not just people from my department.
