The voice cast was stellar.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Jim, Brian Murray as Silver, plus massive comedic talents like David Hyde Pierce, Martin Short, and Emma Thompson.

It was an incredible flex of creative muscle.

But the financials tell a very grim, very brutal story about audience reception at the time.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a phenomenal performance as Jim Hawkins, but in this emotionally driven scene, it's still one of my favorite performances and scenes of his.

And paired with Brian Murray, it's a phenomenal scene that has lasted a long time of one of the best uplifting scenes in Disney history.

To give Silver a little bit more of a spotlight on this episode, I did do some reading about the different depictions of Long John Silver.

And there's been some amazing portrayals over the years from Lance Henriksen.

You know, Jim Cummings is one of my personal favorite and our dearly missed Tim Curry.

Jack Palance had a last performance and one of it was Long John Silver.

But when Brian Murray got the chance to play Silver, there was a little bit more that had to go into the production.

And many animators and screenwriters weren't quite sure what this different adaption was going to be like.
