He also did The Outsiders in '83.

He's so excited.

like, when I first read the script, I was like, I

think there's some kind of Oliver Stone, Brian De Palma movie in this where you look at these characters, like if you look at Tony Montana, it sounds so ridiculous saying Tony Montana, it's like the reference for it, but for some reason that was like my first thing I was thinking.

And they're like really, really big performances.

But when you watch the whole movie, you never think about it as a big performance.

Gotham feels less like a comic book playground and more like a city where the hospital basement has been locked for a very good reason.

The director has said the movie was influenced by filmmakers such as Sam Raimi and Brian De Palma.

That is a very interesting combination.

Sam Raimi can take horror to a wild, almost ridiculous place while still keeping it scary and fun.

Brian De Palma knows how to build suspense, obsession, and psychological fear.

If Clayface can balance those two energies, we could get a movie that is disturbing, stylish, and just strange enough to become unforgettable.

You can also feel the shadow of classic transformation stories like the flies.

that represents the rest of them.

Let's go for the one Brian De Palma wrote for the first one.

It's like going up to a gourmet chef and being like, that shit you did in the toilet last night wasn't up to snuff compared to most of the meals I've eaten.

Before we get too far away from the title discussion, I think with the elegance of the one word title, I think that coupled with the marketing campaign for this film and just the elegant simplicity of the font of Alien and how it works.

Spacek, Brian De Palma.

It was really one of his horror breakthrough films.

But I tell you, it's not an easy film to watch 'cause it's so disturbing, and the way that Carrie's character is treated by her religious, zealot, maniacal mother.

Of course, Sissy Spacek is, you know, just phenomenal.

Mm-hmm.

Wow, that was, that was some cast and, and really, uh, disturbing, but very well done horror film from Brian De Palma.

Well, good to hear Mike Flanagan staying busy.

And a lot of people were hesitant to see it happen again because we've already seen such a beautiful adaptation before.

with the Brian De Palma one, which was the first adaptation there was.

But this one is so different.

And it's very current.
