correct my mother she's doing great for 82 but there's just some little things and i'm not going to trust her with my my four-year-old she goes to church uh every sunday morning she drives herself she never misses but back in uh january we had ice storm in nashville she didn't feel safe one sunday morning to drive so she said she stayed home and watched church for the first time ever on live stream and i like i didn't know my mom knew how to do that and she said it was over she sees people starting to get up she's like well there's gail i can't believe gail would go out on a day like today Well, there's Faye.

I can't believe Faye would go out on a day like today.

And then she said she saw herself.

and realized she was not watching live stream.

She was watching last week's church service.

I'll just leave it at that.

I wasn't on the air.

I was a producer, so I kinda know the ins and outs of what makes a show work and how to keep it moving and flowing.

And when we first started the Nateland podcast, um, the, the plan was Nate would kinda be the one that we...

So the podcast is we take a topic each week that we know nothing about, which is pretty much every topic there is, and we just delve into it and we learn about it on the podcast.

It's just three dumb guys, uh, learning stuff together.

And when we first started, Nate was the one that I was, I was putting together all the information and printing it out for Nate and giving it to him and then letting him kinda read it and direct the podcast.

What's something you can say on Public Figures podcast that, that wouldn't have worked on Nateland after this discussion? [laughs]

But he

nailed the nursery rhymes, though, right? Yeah.

You know, the first time I headlined in St. Louis, it was at Helium.

Oh, yeah? At the garage, is that what it's called? Yeah.

And, man, the attendance was so low.

And these clubs, they want to make you feel good.

Like, you know, like I just did one this weekend.

Is that one still there? Do you happen to know?

How has it helped you guys kind of go forward with your career?

Oh, man, it's night and day different as far as what comics and past generations had to do because, you know, in the past, to get your special out to a mass audience, you had to go through either one of the networks or then HBO, then Comedy Central, and now streaming services like Netflix.

And obviously, you know, Netflix is still killing it.

But now... anybody can put a special on YouTube, and if it's good enough, an audience will find it.

And there's plenty of comedians who have chosen just to do it on YouTube, and their career has blown up because of it.

So YouTube is just an even playing field for all of us now.

People from around the country are weighing in on this, so that's got to feel pretty good as well.

Well, most of those comments are actually different burner accounts I have.

How did you come up with the Worried title for this special?

Well, the first time I ever got called out on it was I was on my senior trip to Panama City Beach, Florida.

That's what you did.

you know, back then you, and I was down there with a group of friends and I know it's going to shock you, Joe, but I didn't have much gang back then.

So my, in my mind, we're talking to these girls and, uh, my mind, in my mind, I'm just going to be cool.

Like my, I'm going to put off this vibe of, I don't even care to be here.

Like, you know, whatever.

So that's got to feel pretty good as well.

this sucks.

Yeah.

Like, you know, man, whatever.

I'm bored, you know.

So we're down there and we meet these girls and I'm just trying to be Mr.

Cool, you know, like, what up? You know, whatever.

And out of nowhere, one of these girls just goes, this guy looks worried.

Oh, okay.

Yeah.

But they really would just went around to all of my friends and, and f- and places where I knew to ask questions about me, but they couldn't get anything on me.

Mm-hmm.

I made a friend with the security guard at the front gate.

I, for some reason, I just knew to give him drugs, money, whatever, months before to have my back.

I didn't think I was gonna actually need him.

Mm.

Oh.

Wow.

And when I first met you, I met you through Nate, but, um, I hosted for you guys at Zanies.

That was the first time I ever met you.

I remember being with Nate in New York.

I was up there just visiting and kinda running around.

That's a mattitude.

What she did, and again, I give this to her credit, she acted like a victim would.

And this is why, and something for many months when I met with Daniel, I would tell him when he would ask me, do you think I did it? And I would say, well, I think you probably did something that you're accused of.

I just got to figure out what it is.

And it took me a long time before I realized he didn't do any of these things.

But one of the most compelling accusers is Janie Liggins.
