But Brevard Public Schools planners testified that the three zoned schools are projected over capacity for Phase 1, Sunrise Elementary, Southwest Middle, and Bayside High, and the developer earns no school credit for it until the school board approves the charter.

The school board took no action last week.

Its next meeting is Tuesday, October 27th.

This month, the 911 call from that day was reported.

The caller, a school employee, told dispatchers she had asked staff days earlier to tighten the board.

Brevard Public Schools says district-wide inspections of all Promethean boards are underway.

The installer is inspecting separately, and an independent safety expert will review after.

Uh, but it did prompt immediate safety warnings from manufacturers, in this case Promethean.

Uh, in direct response, Brevard Public Schools did freeze all new display installations and they ordered a triple inspection safety sweep of every single classroom, uh, to prevent another mechanical failure.

Yeah, probably a good idea.

It needs to be noted, yeah, that, uh, in this case, the little boy involved was special needs.

And hanging over all of it, the schools question.

Brevard Public Schools told the board that Sunrise Elementary, Southwest Middle, and Bayside High are not projected to have enough capacity.

The developer gets no concurrency credit until a charter school application is approved.

Fire mitigation came up, too.

He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Palm Bay police say the death investigation remains open and active.

On October 8, Brevard Public Schools announced inspections of Promethean boards on all campuses.

Counseling is being offered at the school.
