Brett Bateman

Keep that off my baseball team.

If you want a center fielder, go to Nathan Lucas, go to Brett Bateman.

I would much rather have those two in center field rather than Trent Grisham next season.

Yeah, absolutely.

Yeah, absolutely not.

Dalton Varshow is an absolute non-starter.

How about Max Scherzer? abs I mean no Sanchez Jeff Hoffman like we got some talent to come back to the Toronto Blue Jays here holy smokes hey Miles Straw's still out there you know maybe bench option Miles Straw for he can he can play a third of the season in center field with Brett Bateman and Nathan bring back Alec Manoa we need

angels Alec Manoa back on this squad with the 15 ERA that he's going to bring to this team

This team needed a bat desperately.

i think that is exactly where i would start if i was ross atkins going into this free agency there is a few options you look at second base you can look at the outfield for me i am focusing on the outfield when you're running back and outfield right now of what looks like nathan lucas possibly anthony santanda and brett bateman i don't mind all of those guys some people view those guys you know differently than i do the perspectives are different but i think everyone could acknowledge that they could use a little bit of depth in that outfield So I'm going to lead it off here with another Japanese player.

It is not Sato that we've been talking about, but I think myself and Braden will be on the same page here.

And that is Seiya Suzuki.

You don't know the Anthony Santander that you're going to have.

You don't know the Addison Bartscher you're going to have.

You don't know if you're going to have to play Nathan Lucas and Brett Bateman.

If that's the case, God, you need a little bit of pop in the outfield.

So it's tough.

I think if you give John Schneider credit for 2025, you have to be questionable about what his job was in 2026 now if you want to say that hey every player was hot in 2025 couldn't have made a wrong move that I don't think you can blame him for guys all being bad in 2026 but you have to pick one you can't give him credit and then not put him down and you can't put him down and not give him credit for 2025 I don't know where I am on all of that And as I look up and down this lineup with Brett Bateman in center field, we just did the Brett Bateman episode.

So I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time on him, but him and Nathan Lucas, I think could be the one time that I would be okay with you starting the season with a platoon option in center field, because we know that these guys can play quality defense.

And that's a big one in center.

And like I said off the top, Is there one person that can change that swing, fix that swing? We'll find out right away as well.

We'll get into a little bit about Brett Bateman and what do we believe he can contribute to 2027 and how impactful can he be? We'll chat about all that as we continue.

But Carter, why don't you kick things off with a tweet that started it all?

He's been trying to change a lot of things already in this offseason.

Product and prices may vary by state.

So Carter, on a little bit of a lighter note, you know, we talk about Vladdy and oh no, is the world ending.

We get to talk about a really nice young player in Brett Bateman.

And I know, you know, it's a long off season.

Happ's kind of...

I just think Brett Bateman's better.

than Trent Grisham in a lot of facets.

I know Grisham, again, I'm addicted to buy low on guys, but Trent Grisham was awful last year.

I mean, this is a team that...

That made it sound like I'm putting Brett Bateman down.

I'm

not.
