Brereton C. Jones

There's no question about that.

One of my favorite stories is I was very good friends with the former governor of Kentucky, Brereton Jones.

And we were at a derby party one year at the mansion in Frankfort, Kentucky.

And unbeknownst to him and Libby, their teenage daughter walks into the party and she has dyed her hair purple.

Try broadcasting 82 games a year when you're when you're getting beat by 30 a night.

But anyway, so the season was over and I referenced Brary Jones earlier.

He had just been elected governor and Sherry and I were moving back to Kentucky and I was gonna become the secretary of tourism in Brary's cabinet.

And I get a call from Bernie Bickerstaff who was the general manager with the Nuggets.

What are you ta- [laughs] what are you talking about?" And so, um, yeah, it was time.

I, I- A- a- again, I was a huge baseball fan, and I saw some baseball players, some professional baseball players, uh, play whale- we- well beyond their youth- usefulness.

And so it was always in the back of my mind, you know, don't, don't be out there embarrassing yourself.

Um, retire at the top, don't retire at the bottom.
