Brent Hinds

All right, then on the 5th of September, I mean, this ain't a band we really talk about a lot, and it's not really what we cover too much, but Andy Williams, the guitar player from the band Every Time I Die, passed away at the age of 48.

And the wild thing about Andy Williams is not only is he the lead guitarist of this screaming metal band, he was also a professional wrestler.

Yeah, this guy is fascinating to me.

So he's from Canada, and his dream is to become a professional wrestler.

Hmm.

So something crazy happened.

I don't know if they've ever told the full story of it, but just a fascinating guy to go, "You know, oh, my dream is to be a pro wrestler, but also I'm gonna be, you know, the lead guitarist of this band that becomes really popular."

That's a wild story.

[laughs] Um, so then following on Crack the Skye, how do you do that? Well, 27th of September 2011, The Hunter came out, uh, on Roadrunner, uh, in the UK, Reprise in the US.

Um, named The Hunter in honor of Brent Hinds' brother, who died while hunting during the making of this record.

Um, this is then, this is the, this is the polar opposite of Crack the Skye, isn't it? It's-

Yeah

Um, and that takes us up to the current day, lads.

28th of August, 2026, Marrow Deep, uh, their first release on Loma Vista.

Um, first released, obviously, since the death of Brent Hinds.

Another fucking Mastodon album shroud- shrouded in tragedy.

Uh, next one was Mastodon's Your Ghost Again.

It was a, uh, like, a tribute song to their, uh, late guitarist, uh, Brent Hinds, who, uh, unfortunately, uh, left the band on not so great terms, and then, uh, got in a motorcycle accident and passed away.

Uh, which sucked, 'cause I really liked his music.

Yeah.
