Brendan Byrne

In 2023, I interviewed the president of the SETI Institute, a research organization that is searching for extraterrestrial intelligence, life in the universe.

I asked him a simple question, "If scientists ever found evidence that we are not alone in the universe, what would happen next?" "Well," he told me, "we'd probably call a press conference." For what is likely to be the most consequential scientific discovery for humanity, the answer to telling the world we're not alone in the universe was a press conference? I'm Brendan Byrne.

I'm a reporter at Central Florida Public Media covering space.

As a journalist of more than a decade, I've covered hundreds of press conferences.

And a person... who's been really badly hurt, may need to sit in that comforting truth for a long time before they can move on.

There's an author called Brendan Byrne who says, forgiveness and unforgiveness may long wrestle in human hearts, but God takes the long view and will never deny the grace necessary.

God writes the final chapter in your human heart.

But that's you.
