And so she would keep it and Brenda found it in her purse and she gave it to Tommy Mottola of Sony Music.

Um, okay, I was working with this, uh, with this Puerto Rican New York singer called Brenda K. Starr.

She was, like, part of that whole Latin hip hop scene.

Um, and, uh, and I wrote and produced a couple of hits for her, mainly dance hits, uh, uh, here in New York.

Send her over." So she sent over another 16-year-old, and it was, uh, and it was Mariah Carey, and she came, like, all dressed up like you'd expect her to do, like she was going to a prom or something, you know, to sing a demo in my crappy apartment.

Um, and she would sing, and she would put on this, and she'd put on this Brenda K. Starr voice like, "What you see is what you get." Like-
