Do ideal partnerships exist that naturally just jump in and get pleasure from being there and helping? I'm stuck between love is hard and you work through difficult seasons and love is easy and the right person would just get it.

But what if that's not the real work? What if the most important relationship you'll rebuild after a breakup is the one you have with yourself? Because maybe the real work after a breakup isn't learning how to live without them.
S

Breaking Up is Hard to Do
A
3:10AJHOST
Yeah.
R
3:10Romaine PattersonHOST
Yeah, we're going to this week, we're going to talk about the art of the breakup.
R
3:14Romaine PattersonHOST
And what I mean by that is, is there a way to break up with someone gracefully? Is there a way to break up with someone with dignity and respect? Because often when we think of a breakup, they tend to be nasty in a lot of different ways.
R
3:32Romaine PattersonHOST
And part of what inspired me with this particular topic is I've been watching a lot of reality TV, but like that really trashy kind of reality TV, like the show I've been watching is a show called Vanderpump Rules.
R
3:44Romaine PattersonHOST
It's homework.
R
5:39Romaine PattersonHOST
I was not good at breaking up with people at all, even when I wanted to.
R
5:43Romaine PattersonHOST
As I got older, that changed.
R

And now I'm like, oh, yeah, I'll be the one to break up with you.

I've been thinking a lot about inconvenience within relationships and how I feel that some different elements of our society or history has started to make a relationship being a bit inconvenient a to mean that something's wrong that it shouldn't be this hard it shouldn't take this much effort it shouldn't take this much energy you shouldn't have to work so hard for it and these mentalities i think are keeping us from having really connected fulfilling relationships because we don't actually do enough to support the infrastructure of the relationship or the growth of connection between ourselves and somebody else.
L
1:22Lucy PriceHOST
Mostly, I think in part to this idea that it's too inconvenient.

Um, what excited me about this is a new recording view, record your microphone, screen, webcam, and system audio directly into a project.

That sounds exactly like something I can't break up with, which is screen flow.
W
66:26Wes BosHOST
Um, it, because that is a fantastic workflow of like, Oh, I got to throw something in here really quickly.
W
66:32Wes BosHOST
Right? Like there's, there's kind of this weird world of video editing right now where it's like, there's like cap cut and like these like screen, whatever screen X, uh, apps that like make these nice little swoopy animations that are way too limited um and then on the other hand you have like the full-on davinci resolve which is often for a lot of people too complex right um and and in the middle there there's there's a spot there so i'm gonna be be trying this out open shot 4.0 maybe this is the answer to to linux editing on linux

If you'd like more information about my work or you'd like to work with me one-on-one, please visit my website at retroactivejealousy.com. For those of you here for the first time, the term retroactive jealousy refers to unwanted intrusive thoughts, often obsessive curiosity, and what I like to call mental movies about a partner's past relationships and or sexual history.

And when needless to say, when you're dealing with retroactive jealousy, it can be tempting to just think, if I break up with this person, that will solve my retroactive jealousy.
