Breakfast of Champions

I see why you're not going to describe them.

But I will say that I made those thinking of the long tradition of like Chaucer and the Miller's Tale, you know, and Kurt Vonnegut's illustrations, hand-drawn illustrations within his novel Breakfast of Champions.

And so there was a whole lineage and history of jokes and satires that sort of end with a certain body part.

And so I thought that I was pretty seamlessly entering into that tradition of satire.

I've reread Breakfast of Champions the most times because it's just so freaking weird.

Kurt Vonnegut, short and to the point, basically saying life is meaningless, be nice.

Like the best parts of the Bible are life is short, be nice.

Breakfast of Champions is basically life is short, be nice.

it's it's um 176 pages but um like if you look through like they're short little chapters or like sort of vignettes so

One of the things I've kind of set out to do over the last year, year and a half, is to read more of authors I've already read.

So you're a fan of Vonnegut.

Besides Breakfast of Champions and Slaughterhouse-Five, what other books from Vonnegut would you recommend?

So I think my favorite is actually Cat's Cradle, believe it or not.

It's succinct.

It is wonderfully nihilistic.

It's got people touching the soles of their feet together.

What else more do you want? I'm actually there's a thing floating around of like Vonnegut raiding his own books and I actually like fully agree with him and there's one sticking point for a lot of people he gave Breakfast of Champions a C I might just be a hater that one did not hit quite as much for me but I don't know Also, Sirens of Titan is also wonderful.

That was one of his first novels.

So I wanted to give them a voice, really.

And I love, like, Douglas Adams or Breakfast of Champions.

I like those kind of things where it's the real world, slightly spec.

And I like literature for that because I feel like the visual, like, visual arts, it is open to experimentation, but not as much as, I think, the lit world.
