Brass band

So today we're going to find out what it's like balancing playing your cornet with balancing the books.

We'll hear about Matt's early days, his journey through the band, some of the different instruments he's played along the way, life on the front row, and then in part two, we'll swap the cornet for the calculator and find out what it really takes to look after the finances of a brass band.

So Matt, welcome to the Harworth Brass Podcast.

Hello,

Is there anything you've always fancied trying, but you've never actually got the opportunity to play? Bass trombone.

The only one I'd love to do, even if it was a carol gig or something, I'd love to do B flat bass because I can read bass clef to play piano and stuff, but just a carol gig.

And then I get a t-shirt, you know, saying brass band completed it or something.

Well, yeah, because then you will have done every instrument in the band.

And then this free jazz brass shit.

Look, Radiohead hired Brass Ensemble and erased them in a tradition.

I'm forgetting the style.

It's a style of jazz tradition.
