But I wanted to talk a little bit about character and how much that matters or not.

Landing at number thirty-three, major basketball facility expansion in twenty-fourteen, twenty-sixteen, and twenty-eighteen.

Brandon University Healthy Living Center opened in twenty-fourteen, the Sport Manitoba courts followed in twenty-sixteen, and Dakota Fieldhouse arrived in twenty-eighteen.

Together, these venues added modern court capacity for training, leagues, camps, provincial events, and major tournaments, creating new opportunities in both Winnipeg and Brandon, changing what Manitoba could host.

At number thirty-two, Team Manitoba wins the Canadian Junior Women’s National Championship in nineteen-ninety-one.

The result was a signature holiday tournament tradition that became part of the rhythm and identity of Manitoba basketball.

Number eighteen takes us to twenty-fourteen and one of the great coaching careers in Canadian basketball, Jerry Hemmings.

That year, Hemmings retired after building Brandon University into a national powerhouse and finishing with seven hundred and thirty-nine career wins, making him one of the winningest coaches in Canadian university basketball history.

His championships sustained national prominence and impact on players, coaches, and the Brandon community created a legacy that reaches far beyond the Bobcats record book.

Um, it's a relatively small university, but, uh, I like to say we're small but mighty, so we do some pretty good work here.

Um, and, uh, yeah, so I was very fortunate during my, my undergrad, my master's, to actually connect with, uh, Dr. Darren Cando, who's, uh, actually published the most on creatine in the entire world.

And we have Dr. Gino Dastasio, the interim president and vice chancellor of the University of Winnipeg.

Russ Paddock, the athletic director of Brandon University.

Kara Isaac, the athletic director of the University of Winnipeg.

And last but not least, David Asper, the owner and chairman of the Winnipeg Seabears.

It was a breakthrough victory that established a new standard for the province, proved that a Manitoba program could reach the summit of Canadian University basketball, and remains one of the foundational team achievements in our history.

Coming in at number three, the Brandon Bobcats Men's National Championship Dynasty.

Brandon University won three straight CIAU titles from 1987 to 1989, then climbed back to the top again in 1996.

Under Jerry Hemmings, the Bobcats became a national powerhouse and gave Brandon and Manitoba one of the most celebrated dynasties in Canadian university basketball.
