It became the first major buyer of BrahMos missiles from India in 2024.

The first lot of BrahMos missiles was del-delivered to the Philippines on board Indian Air Force's C-17 aircraft, and this is a $375 million deal and looks like it's going to be followed by top-up orders.

Now, what are the Chinese doing and what is it that the arbitration award complained about? The arbitration award, first of all, said that China has called irreplaceable harm to maritime environment.

It also said these claims of ancient times are invalid and they, they bring no binding force for China's claims.

So I tacitly agree with Sid on the, it's just US and China, I would say at the head of it.

But we're seeing India impose its will a little bit by selling Brahmos and other military equipment to, let's see, what were the countries? Armenia, Philippines, Malaysia.

But what they're trying to do is also you know, push back on China's, you know, supremacy with the Sea of Pearls and push that back and take strategic zones as well.

The company, NPO Mashinostroyena, helped develop the P800 Oniks, that's a Russian ramjet-powered anti-ship missile capable of traveling faster than Mach two and descending to approximately ten to fifteen meters above the surface during its final approach.

The company also helped establish the partnership responsible for developing India's BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.

So Tehran is receiving help from some of the most experienced anti-ship missile engineers in the world.

The US sanctioned the company back in twenty fourteen, describing it as a leading Russian rocketry company responsible for cruise missiles launched from ships, submarines, and ground positions, along with work supporting Russia's strategic nuclear forces.

The policy should not necessarily be read as an immediate opening up of every missile program to competing private manufacturers.

The BrahMos program, for example, has a different institutional and industrial structure.

Private companies are already involved in the manufacturing components of the missile and parts of its launcher, but the core BrahMos production ecosystem is internal.

The source said that if there is a requirement to accelerate production of missiles already on order, that is the BrahMos missiles already on order, additional private companies could be brought into the program.

The strategic significance of the decision may ultimately be judged not by how many companies receive technology transfer agreements, but by whether India can build surge capacity.

Now, the Australians have been getting into a number of one-on-one confrontations with the PLA up in the South China Seas and even up into the Straits of Taiwan over the recent months.
