Bradninch

In today's episode of Farming in 5, the Duchy of Cornwall defends tenant action as backlash against Prince William Estate sell-off grows and CO2 pig stunning is to be phased out as the government seeks more humane slaughter methods.

Now the Duchy of Cornwall has been forced to defend its sale of the Bradninch estate in Devon after Prince William was accused of disregarding tenants in a Sunday newspaper.

The 52,000 hectare estate near Exeter has been part of the Duchy since 1337 but in March of this year it was announced the land was set to be sold to raise money for what the Prince sees as other priorities including homelessness and climate change.

Reporting on that news, Farmers Guardian heard from residents, tenant farmers and local councillors who all expressed their disappointment that the estate was set to broken up.
