yeah like I was just going you know killing in the name that's not simple

well it's not even that it's it's the thing about the drums for Rage Against the Machine it's the thing if you've if you are a drummer and you you try to play along with all that stuff Brad Wilk, who is the drummer of Rage Against the Machine, plays with a level of complexity that is so subtle.

It's so subtle because everything has to be fairly simplistic because a lot of the inspiration for Rage Against the Machine comes from hip hop.

And hip hop is, there's a simplicity to it because it has to be the simple beats for the guy rapping and whatnot.

Looks like I'm not gonna see Maiden this run, but I am going to catch Rush.

I'm going to find out what night they're doing, um, Moving Pictures somewhere on the tour, and I'm just gonna fly out and go see it, me and Brad Wilk.

So that's a, a plan that I have made.

I must see the Moving Pictures record.

And I love that idea.

Dave Grohl and Brad Wilk from Rage Against the Machine were the two that really just set it off for me from the get-go, where their beats, as an early listener that didn't have a trained ear yet, I thought I was hearing what they were doing, and it sounded like things I could wrap my head around.

They formed in 2001 out of the remains of Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden.

Chris Cornell's on lead vocals and then the remaining members from Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello on lead guitar, Tim Comerford on bass and backing vocals, and Brad Wilk on drums.

This is their debut album of three studio albums that they did.

and then and then the next comment was like brad wilk's a really good drummer i'm like yeah he is he's a really good drummer and then the third count was like zach raps like yeah he raps he raps really good and they're like they didn't mention my guitar playing but but i began hearing rage coming out of their rooms You know, and I began hearing like some audio slave come out of the rooms and I think they started poking around at what dad does for a living.

And then they, you know, we played 19 shows on that tour and they came to all 19 shows and got to, you know, sort of feel it and it's, you know, in full

flower.

Dweezil Zappa was born in 1969, guitarist and son of rock icon Frank Zappa, who carved out his own musical legacy both as a 1980s MTV VJ and for also preserving his father's complex catalog through the Zappa Plays Zappa tours.

Brad Wilk was born in 1968, groove-heavy rock drummer who was part of the political rock bands of the modern era, including Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave.

Juan Altaret was born in 1963, bass player who became a favorite in the alternative community for his rapid-fire heavy metal tapping in the group Racer X and also in the prog rock group The Mars Volta.

Artists who unfortunately passed away on September 5th.

Yeah.

But as older you get, you're like, "I can do this all like Brad Wilk with four drums."

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

But you're a great, you're a great, great drummer." When Lock Up broke up, I literally, the singer of Lock Up called me up, said, "I break up with you." And I hung up the phone and I called Brad Wilk.

I called him like-

Dweezil Zappa, um, born in 1969.

Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine was born in 1968.
