Box Hill Hawks had the bye.

They play their preliminary final against Essendon at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday.

There's been a lot of controversy about the venue choice of the game, why it's not being played at Dingley.

Some are saying Princess Park.

The rest of you can all get stuffed." So that is the thinking out of that.

So that game sold out in three minutes or seven minutes, something like that.

There'll be, I don't know, 3, 2,000 or 3,000 people crammed into Box Hill City Oval for the game.

That's on Saturday at the traditional s- finals time of 11:05 or something like that.

We didn't play either of those teams this year, so I didn't get a first-hand experience through the quirk of the VFL draw, but we got to play a lot of teams who played them leading into that opposition, so I got to have a look at them, and obviously Box Hill, they both mirror their AFL side, and they've got some strong AFL guys in.

Obviously, there's differences in who might be available given the eligibility rules, I think, for Essendon versus Box Hill with Hawthorne sort of still in the mix, but they get to play at the proud Box Hill City Oval, Big Oval, which I think Box Hill play... big ovals and wide, expansive grounds really well.

But I think Essendon might get across the line this week.

I just have a feeling that, yeah, they've got some momentum.

My name is Lamb, and I'm here to recap Box Hill's round 14 performance against the Casey Demons in the 2026 VFLW season.

Down to the City Oval looking to rack up a second consecutive win, taking on the lowly Casey Demons with both sides bumping in some AFLW talent to try and get some minutes into those who did not play in the Hawthorn-Melbourne game on Thursday night.

It was a pleasant Saturday morning at the City Oval, and the Hawks kicked the only goal of the first term before a strong midfield performance created plenty of scoring opportunities for the rest of the game.

The Hawks piled on four goals, three goals, and four goals across the last...

in each of the last three quarters, respectively, running out dominant winners and all but sealed the wooden spoon for Casey, and pushed into a logjam of teams who are a few games outside the top six and will not be playing finals.

But it was a much improved performance, and it was nice to see some AFLW players bump in and help the crew out as well.
