Bösendorfer

It's actually Hotel Beauden, B-E-A-U-D-E-N.

And the restaurant there, Bohem, as you mentioned, and the Bosendorfer Lounge that was there, the one with the really nice piano.

Yeah.

Yeah, so that is now known as Libra, L-I-B-R-A.

and Asian influences.

When I did my little write-up, I said, au revoir, lamb, loin, noisette, and konnichiwa, miso rib eye.

Yeah, but in fact, that Bosendorfer Lounge, so the piano that was there, they've actually struck a deal with Steinway, with the Steinway Society of Central Florida, I think.

So that old Bosendorfer piano is going to be out, and in will be a Steinway come this fall.

Uh-huh.

You know, especially at a really great concert hall, um, unless they're sponsored by just like Bösendorfer or something.

But I think-

At the moment, there is one too many.

I have four concert grounds and one little piano and one little Bösendorfer that I have bought for myself.

First big purchase of my life.

And do they all have different musical characteristics and personalities?

How could this be for me? And so we had a— I had a friend who was a master pianist.

He was given a Bosendorfer, a quarter million dollar piano at that time.

That's how good he is.

And he was the pianist.

Well, the, the origins of it are rather prosaic, I'm afraid, in that I was commissioned it by, uh, uh, some publication, uh, another magazine, to- would I...

Out of the blue the editor said would I be interested in writing a, a history of Bösendorfer, and I thought, "Oh, I don't know really.

Um, I'm not sure.

Um, what's inter-"

So I, then I thought...

I said, "Well, okay, I'll, I'll have a go," and I wrote it, and I got absolutely fascinated by the subject.

By the whole who was Mr. Bösendorfer, how did he start off, and how did he start, you know, how did he become so successful, and why are they sort of iconic these days, blah, all that sort of...

And then so that was successful, and then my- the lovely editor said, "Do you wanna do another, and another, and another?" So it started, the whole book is really a, a series of very expanded, updated, revised, and, um, much more detailed versions of, um-
