Border–Gavaskar Trophy

You've got one more county championship game with Yorkshire to, to, to make sure they're safe in, in the top division, and then there's a big run of cricket coming up for India.

Obviously, as an Australian we're most interested in Australia coming for the Border-Gavaskar in, in January.

And, you know, I mean, don't forget, I think there's less than two weeks or just around two weeks between the last day of the Sydney, the scheduled day of the Sydney test and the first day of the test in Nagpur.

So, for the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

So, I can see someone like an Alex Carey sneaking in a game for the strikers.

But that's about it.

Now I'm always fascinated in these, because it gives us a little bit of a glimpse into what the selectors are thinking.

The fact that it's in India skews that a little bit, and I noticed a couple of guys have gone here really in preparation for the other Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is obviously going to be contested in January or early next year.

The batters, Hanscombe, Kellaway, Constance, McSweeney, Jason Sangha.

Keepers, Harper and Phillippe.

I think it's a high level of cricket.

It's a great opportunity to go over there and, and do it.

Uh, I don't know how many of those guys will actually be in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad, but, uh, I think there's, I mean-

Probably about two or three.

That, and that was a month after the window for the tournament had been brought forward from July to February, which means two international tours, one between Australia and New Zealand and now one between England and Sri Lanka, are going to have to be moved because of it.

It's gonna be played directly after the WPL and now in India alongside a men's Border-Gavaskar Trophy test series.

And I think there is a wider point of this tournament being-- I don't think it's been well thought, thought through, to be honest.

I don't know whether you agree.

Dip and all can be, if you're very smart and if you manage to scrape off the data, you can find dip and drift, but we are not that [laughs] so I don't think it's possible for me to find out whether it is working or not.

But we will see when, if, like, come Border-Gavaskar trophy, if Gill is continuing with such short spells, so it would be a sign that he believes that it is working.
