And I thought that one encounter popped back into my mind.

In kind of real time on the call, I was like, well, this one time we saw something that we thought was a Mylar balloon, but now that I know about balloons, that was not a balloon.

Like no chance that was a balloon.

It didn't behave like a balloon.

Um, I have this weird phobia of balloons.

Not Mylar balloons-

A friend made a really good point the other day about the lipsticks being...

in a matte red packaging with the Mylar balloon top.

They were like, how interesting that you're going to have a matte packaging with a glossy formula on the inside.

How confusing that must be.

Perhaps my favorite prepping topic in all of prepping lore and yore and so on.

Mylar balloons are a big giant scam.

I mean, they're getting filled with helium, and it's a piece of plastic that was made in a sweatshop in China.

How can it be

Tape as we know it now is either a plastic or acetate base or mylar.

The acetate tape went pretty well out of the world by the early 70s.

Mylar endured, but Tape was pretty expensive, and the tape that was developed in Germany in the mid-1930s was paper

tape.

Paper tape base.
