okay daniel harvey replies again and he says love belana coming to the realization that she's married into money yes and no she's married to a hotshot pilot who happens to be the son of a famous admiral or well-known high-up admiral who can certainly pull a ton of strings to assist but there's no such thing as money for federation citizens if you read trackonomics by manu manu just look up trackonomics and star trek economics there's another book about it the idea is that the federation is so rich everyone has got constantly updated credits every day that's why when you see jake cisco not jake cisco grandpa cisco people just walking in and buying food or it looks like they're buying food but they're being served and there's no payment and you can in good faith argue well it's all done wirelessly and automatically and because there's such an abundance of materials that humanity has access to now and we're living in a post scarcity society people have like billions of dollars worth of credits let's just say dollars billions of federation credits there we go and so anything they spend their money on isn't they're just not going to be limited by spending money so in effect it's just worthless inside the federation everything is paid for by these credits that they're constantly accruing wirelessly maybe with rfid chips stuck in their body or something somewhere anything that the tv hasn't explained well fans in good faith can explain instead so that's my belief and the real monetary value of living in the 24th century is explained nicely by the Orville where it's reputation reputation is the social currency and displays of wealth can be had with acquiring antiques again this is all inside the federation because we know that the Ferengi have money so logically the federation must have a currency when they're dealing with outsiders to the federation they just have to how do they get those raw materials from that society or that empire well they've got federation credits that they can cash in but for everybody in the federation as a citizen you just get a huge allocation of credits you can do whatever you want inside and that's not just the fans making that up if you remember there's an episode with esri dax in season 7 where her family are on a planet and they mentioned the bank of bolius the bank of bolius That's where Chell comes from, Bolius 7 or something.

Well, they must have a currency that's internal to the Bolian people, and it must be used for something specific inside the Federation.

Maybe they've got a banking structure that helps finance the Federation outward.

And so I work on that basis when it comes to having wealth inside Bolian.

this story especially so she hasn't married into wealth although their prestige and reputation does grant them a certain level of status that isn't going to be given to someone who's just an everyday person who either isn't in the federation isn't in starfleet or isn't exploring they're just enjoying life and they're able to focus on their own sort of i don't know inner self-discovery something like that i can't explain it all because the show doesn't even bother to explain also why should i but for the most part you can see that the paris family especially have focused their energy on collecting items i'm not going to say why at the moment but part of it is because of their reputational wealth and they are using their federation credits for a specific purpose there is a spoiler there there was somebody on a podcast who said that one way to show your wealth this is how they interpreted it is to just buy antiques and then you can show them off to people because they're one of a kind to trade with but there's so many That's it for this episode.
