Boldness

The righteous are meant to be bold like lions in the sense that they don't just run away from fears and perceive fears, but they're not just roaring at everybody who threatens their reign and their rule.

Boldness, my friends, is not screaming at your kids, right? when they're not listening to you.

Boldness is not flexing your physical, financial, or career superiority over those who are under your authority.

That kind of roaring, verse 15 says, is what makes you a wicked ruler.

Wicked rulers are also like a charging bear.

So gentleness means that I love the false teacher as a person, and I want that person saved.

Boldness means that my love for that person will not permit me to pretend that dangerous error is harmless.

The book Faith and Works even says that when deception is spreading, the kindest thing we can give people is the truth with Scripture as the test of doctrine.

Now I want to ask you, is there someone you disagree with spiritually whom you need to remember is a person Christ wants to save? Now you don't have to name them, but share a prayer emoji if you're praying for someone.

And I will join you in prayer.

Now we need both because either one without the other becomes dangerous.

Boldness without gentleness can turn defending truth into defending our pride.

We may win an argument and at the same time lose the person.

So in honor of this day, and the reminder it's given us of the power of encouragement, we asked the women behind Country Woman's Guide to share the words that have stayed with them.

First off is me, Emma, and mine is, "Boldness has a genius and magic to it.

Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it now." This quote came from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and although the wording may be slightly paraphrased by me, it's one I've carried around with me since I was about 19.

Somebody has to move before everybody else feels comfortable moving.

Number two, boldness points up.

The goal isn't confidence in you, it's confidence in the Lord.

Boldness spreads out.

Real courage doesn't terminate on you.

It multiplies through you.
