We have the Joe which is a staff, a stick and we have movements with that and then we have the Bokken which is a wooden sword and we have movements that we practice with that and so that's how the Aikido kind of connects to that tradition of Japanese martial arts and yeah the weapons is quite fun as well and it has that discipline aspect where you're controlling your movements and memorizing sequences of movements

You know weapons fighting so that it can inform your body art because they use it that way, right? Hey, we're going to learn Shiho Nage.

And so then they stick a Bokken in your hand and the guy grabs you, right? And then apparently it's supposed to magically...

fix your Shiho Nage because you have the Bokken.

But what if you don't know how to use the Bokken? Why would it fix your Shiho Nage? It's not going to fix your Shiho Nage.

So the person who can't get, for example, the grip, their wrist and the grab wrist, the contest on their center line in body art, probably can't get the bulk in on their center line either.

And we've seen that, right? You're trying to do Kiri Gaesh in this form and it's circling around your head instead of your hands just coming straight up your center, right? And straight down your center.

Whatever that skill is, that is a huge part of what you get from weapons.
