Boise National Forest

The Wild Horse Fire in northeast Lincoln County was 100% contained as of late Saturday with no heat on the burn perimeter, according to an infrared flight.

And the Crooked Fire in the Boise National Forest east of Idaho City is now 21% contained and just over 8,600 acres.

A complex incident management team this weekend took over management of that fire.

That will provide the capacity and resource support for the next phase of operations, fire managers say.

The Saturday storms also grounded aircraft suppression efforts on the 1,500-acre blaze.

The Boise National Forest reports the fire is burning in steep, rocky, and heavily forested terrain.

Fire crews are having to watch for falling rock and debris, along with falling hazard trees.

Campgrounds and yurts in the area remain open, but there are trail closures in effect for the fire.

In eastern Lincoln County, the Shale Butte Fire, which started Saturday, is 1,500 acres and 40 percent contained, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

Officials estimate full containment on that blaze later today.
