So the Bible is a huge rock in the shoe of the narcissist Gnostic, and that's why they always have to go after it first.

Whether you are talking about the Gnostics that John is squaring off against, the Polychons, the Bogomils, the weird medieval secret societies, the Cathars, whether you are talking about the secret societies associated with even universities on the East Coast or the secret societies they think they've connected with in Oak Island or the Knights Templar, or even modern secret societies that you can join, let the reader understand.

They all have the same thing in common.

They have secret knowledge about God that you can't find out unless you first pledge your soul to them.

Roman authorities charged early Christians with atheism, incest and infant cannibalism at their assemblies.

Once Christianity became the established religion, the same accusations were levied against those who rejected official church doctrine, against Gnostics and Manichaeans, against Jews in the medieval blood-libel literature, against Bogomils and Katars, and eventually against the Knights Templar in the trials of 1307 and 1312, where confessions extracted under torture described the veneration of a mysterious head called Baphomet.

Historians of the period are near unanimous that these accusations describe the fears of the accusers rather than the practices of the accused.

Medieval devil-worshipping sect was a construct assembled from inquisitorial questionnaires and the psychology of interrogation under duress.

Now, most scholars think it was some sort of unidentified Jewish sect that put it together.

Now, it was heavily used during the first century by Christians and even the Jews, and also the Bogomils also used it as well.

And it does give us an idea of the precursor to this Lucifer narrative, or as they call him in the second Book of Enoch, Satanael.

Now, we're gonna look at chapter 29, and it starts off with, "Monday is the day, the fiery substance." Now, remember I was talking about in Ezekiel 28, it said what in verse 14? That you walked among the fiery stones.

as a forebearer going back.

So Anabaptists, Bogomils, you know, Cathars, Montanists, and somebody at some point, because obviously you can't claim the Orthodox Catholic Church as your lineage because you represent the true church, which has always existed during that timeline.

But even Baptists, Even Southern Baptists considered the landmark as to be crazy and heresy.

The other alternative are what's called restorationists, the Churches of Christ, the Campbellite, the Stone Campbell movement.

... yeah, but they weren't the only ones, when we're talking about the Cathars.

Before the Cathars came the Bogomils of the Balkans, uh, a spiritual movement that taught salvation through knowledge of the inner light.

These are all Gnostic groups-

Um, so yeah.

Uh, oh, and by the way, the, whenever the church called the Cathars and the Bogomils and the, the group that we're about to talk about with the, uh, Valentinians, they, they called all of them evil dualists, because they believed that there were two gods.

While the name had been held by some earlier groups, it is generally associated in Western Europe with a movement known in France.

By 1017, that seems to have links with the Bogomils of 10th century Bulgaria.

They repudiated matter as evil, rejected sex and procreation, repudiated the incarnation and the resurrection, and approved of suicide and usury.

The sect did not survive the 14th century Inquisition.

Let's see how much of a mention the Cathars get here.

it's talking about the period of the mendicants that's the franciscans the poor clairs and the dominicans who began flowering in the 1200s again that same period and it says here the two most important movements on the fringe of the church were the cathars and the waldensians The Cathars seem to have preached a version of dualism derived from the Bogomils in Bulgaria, and little is known of their spirituality.

It is likely that most of their ordinary followers were impressed by the austerity of their lives rather than by their doctrine.

But the Baptist movement predates the Reformation, goes all the way back to the Middle Ages.

And so they end up cobbling together all kinds of interesting and, um, frankly some of them are radical groups, like the Paulicians, the Bogomils, um, the, you know, John Wycliffe and the Lollards, Jan Hus and the Hussites.

Uh, anybody who stood against the Roman institutional church of the medieval period gets lumped into, "Well, these people are all Baptists." But n- number one, you know, what, what did these people believe? ...

on, on more fundamental ideas like the Trinity, uh, the deity of Christ, et cetera.
