Bogie

It's a fun little adventure.

And Bogie is good in that.

Bogie is good.

That's a rare movie where Bogart feels transformative.

Gotcha.

Which has always been my issue with him.

Bogie always feels like Bogie.

Have you seen Treasure of the Sierra Madre yet?

And that convinces Ethel Barrymore, who's always wonderful to see on screen, uh, who is the widow.

A- and, uh, she decides that she is siding with Humphrey Bogart, and then it's kind of like her and Bogie against like her children and like gold-digging family.

And that's kind of like the gist of the movie.

And there's this case that Humphrey Bogart starts working.

He gives advice to a younger newspaperman who gets almost beaten to death because of something he is trying to find out, and then that kind of gets Bogie really interested in it.

So it's like simultaneously trying to save the newspaper and then also trying to figure out this case and how like everything's interconnected.

But this is just a really, really good movie about newspapers and journalism.

Like I can't remember her name, Ryan, but the woman who's the researcher who just keeps-

So you get a lot of that, a lot of that in the private, uh, dick era.

But, I mean, it, it kinda reminds me more of the, kind of, you know, Bogie was kind of cool, too cool for school.

He didn't do a lot of physical stuff, maybe occasional fist fight, but Bogie was mostly just a...

I don't know, uh, he thought things through.

That's what, that's what this is.
