Headline, Nordic Air Forces strengthen cooperation at Combined Air Operations Center Bodo.

Representatives from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden met in Bodo, August 25-28, to advance the Nordic Air Power concept.

Nearly 100 participants gathered in Bodo, Norway and at NATO's newest Combined Air Operations Centre, working in specialist and cross-functional groups to share experience, discuss challenges and identify opportunities for closer cooperation.

Participants spent the three days of professional discussions focused on strengthening the coherence and integration of Nordic air power.

The talks focused on how the five Nordic countries can develop more coherent and effective air power by drawing on their combined capabilities, expertise and experience.

The Nordic Air Power concept provides the framework for that cooperation, helping establish a common direction for how their national air forces can operate more closely together.

Norwegian Major General Trond Strand, commander of Combined Air Operations Center Bodo, said, Nordic Air Force's staff talks are an important forum for professional military dialogue between the Nordic countries.

These are significant Russian military aviation hubs, and they sit in close proximity to the Norwegian border.

The Bodo Flight Information Region handles some of the most operationally complex airspace in Europe.

It borders Russian-controlled airspace to the east and northeast.

Norwegian airspace regularly sees NATO exercise activity, quick reaction alert intercepts, and maritime patrol operations.

Norwegian airspace is fully functional, continuously monitored by NATO and civil air traffic control.

And there is no active conflict on Norwegian territory.

Flights through the Oslo and Bodo flight information regions continue normally today.

EASA has not issued a conflict zone bulletin for Norwegian airspace, but Russia's statement this week is a data point, and data points accumulate.
