Bobby Hauck

To me the whole, this is the thing that I keep landing upon which makes this Griz season infinitely intriguing and also not intriguing at all and that is I keep going back to the question of- Is the result of the 2026 season completely dependent on who the head coach is, or not dependent whatsoever on who the head coach is? In other words, if Bobby Hauck was still the head coach, would this team still be just fast-tracking towards a nine and three s- record, or is BK gonna get them to be way better or way worse than that? It's infinitely interesting 'cause the answer could be that they could be way better or way worse.

That's what makes it interesting.

The fact of the matter-

I, I hate going back and forth, but I also love it.

Would you be more concerned if this team had had this exact same start with Bobby Hauck as the head coach, given the fact that Bobby's teams always play with their food in September, and then when he has his good teams and his strategy works, they get better and better as the season goes along?

That's, that's part of the unknown, right?

... a gradual disciplinary thing.

And maybe it's because they've got a new system now with Bobby Hauck, the 3-3-5, and maybe you guys are thinking a little too much out there.

I don't know.

I'm making stuff up.

They will improve, and Brett will improve with this football team.

Bobby Hauck's coached a lot of good defenses as well, but again, this is the first time Bobby Hauck's seen a lot of these Big 10 offenses as well.

He's been in...

And I'm not, I'm not...

He's just been in a different conference, right? And so if you play against certain teams, you look at the same tape over and over, you start to get tendencies.

I think they're gonna get better.

I think Bobby Hauck's gonna get better.

I think this defense is gonna get better, but we are razor, razor thin when it comes to play makers, right? Heaven forbid Matthew Bailey got out on a targeting call, okay, which I thought could've gone either way, uh, in my opinion.

Because a lot of these universities, they get threatened by these players' associations and think they're going to try to take their money and take this and take that.

The University of Montana, I will say this, everyone here has been absolutely fantastic to work with, the athletic department, the coaches, BK coming to events, understanding what we're about.

I talked to their new D-line coach.

I said, hey, the players I'm just representing, if you have a kid that ever needs anything off the field, like counseling, anything you need, he needs, you have a player that needs something, we are here to support you.

Here's the other point, is that He's been, I think, fine the first game, good the second game.

He just needs to be so elite.

But BK has schemed this thing up for him and for himself and for Grizz Nation for them to just completely explode, to try to, like, put everything from the past behind him and just absolutely – show there's a new era of Grizz football.

And they haven't hit any of those yet.

So how do you – everybody's been

saying BK has got to clean this up and this wouldn't be happening under Bobby Houck, but I just don't know.

Do teams commit less penalties because they're more scared of their head coach? I don't know if that's actually real.

And I was talking about this on my show as well.

I think if this was regular Illinois, I'd be a three.

But considering Bobby Hawk, new defensive coordinator, everything else, I'm also debating a two.

But also, this UAB team is not supposed to be a good team.

They're supposed to be one of the 10 or 15 worst teams in college football.
