We are watching, um, and monitoring, uh, 9/11 coverage out of both, uh, Newfoundland and New York City, uh, 25 years after the fact.

We're hoping to connect with Bob Rae, who has a new book out, um, Reclaiming Canadian Sovereignty in a Ruptured World.

Um, the book is the first time Mr. Rae has edited a book, and it features Margaret Atwood, who's pondering turbulent times that Canada's facing.

Following the exodus in 2017, the Cana- the government of Canada recognized the R- this Rohingya crisis as genocide.

So, and then also the, the previous, uh, government, uh, appointed Bob Rae as a, as a special envoy to Myanmar, and the, the government have already implemented some recommendation, but there are also some recommendation remain.

But, uh, the ...

I am very sad to know that the role of a special envoy to Myanmar is no longer, and I am requesting the government of Canada, the current government of Canada, to reappoint a special envoy and to document the ongoing crime of the Myanmar military, also the recent human right violation of the Arakan Army, and refer these two perpetrators to International Court of Justice.

While we take your calls, we're gonna be joined by a couple of people who've spent their careers thinking deeply about these questions.

Bob Rae is a former Canadian ambassador to the United Nations.

He's now a teacher and fellow at the University of Toronto.

And Lisa Raitt is a former conservative cabinet minister and member of the Prime Minister's Advisory Committee on Canada-U.S. Economic Relations.

Bob Rae, you wrote in the Toronto Star this weekend a piece about who we are, and this is one of the questions that we wanted to ask this morning.

We're gonna open the phone lines to speak with Canadians across the country about, about who we are as Canadians in this moment.

I was so excited to get started on the world, and lots of ups and downs in the early parts of your career, which I think all ECEs kind of go through that until you find your home, right? Until you find that place where you need to settle.

And I kind of quickly had babies in my 20s, and then by the time I finished that, I was ready to take on a director's role, and I was really fortunate in the early '90s, Bob Rae, who was the premier of the province at the time, he was putting childcare everywhere.

Every school that was built, childcare was going into.

The city of Scarborough was putting in co-ops.
