So my next question gets at how do you distinguish between moving so fast and quickly and moving wisely and making sure you're not just doing the next thing right, but you're also doing the right thing? And what role do values play in helping leaders make these sound decisions when they don't have all the answers?

You know, at the Army War College, we often and talk about the VUCA world, volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous.

And boy, if that doesn't describe all of our lives, I don't know another acronym that does.

Well, it's the values that help you through the fog of VUCA.

If you stay true to your values, that will help you make the right decisions through the fog that you see in a VUCA world.

The other thing I would say that's fundamentally important but often ignored is you've got to look at everything through the lens of your customer.

Let me give you an example.

And so during these VUCA times and what seemed to be, you know, accelerating change, what is giving you hope right now?

For kids listening who might not know what on earth is a quack and what is a crazy science fact you love to tell kids about.

It's not quite a quack.

Quack.

That's what ducks do.

It's called a quark, like a quart of milk.

And a quark is the smallest thing there is.

So if you take anything and you smash it with a hammer, say you take a glass and you smash it with a hammer, you'll get little pieces, but those pieces are still glass.

So if you were offered a one-way ticket to go live in a glass dome on Mars tomorrow, would you pack your bags and go? Or are you staying on Earth?
