Bob Hartman

Well, we had this radical idea.

Actually, Bob Hartman, the guitar player, said, Guys, I think we need to do a praise and worship record.

We're like...

What is this madness you're talking about? Now, we had done this kind of rock and roll praise 30-minute section of our shows all the time.

September 3rd, we have Petra founding member and bass player John D. Groff, born in 1953.

And the original lineup of Petra without Bob Hartman has actually gotten back together.

I think it was...

I can't remember where they go in it now.

All right, September 22nd.

Another co-founding member of Petra, Greg Howe, who did guitar back on the first record, maybe the first two records.

It was Greg Howe and Bob Hartman trading off vocals and guitars until they decided they wanted just a regular vocalist.

And then they bring in Greg Voltz.

Yeah.

Except for Bob.

But, I mean, Petra is one of those bands that I've, like...

I give a little bit of grace to, and it's probably unfair to the other bands that I don't give grace to when it comes to the shuffling of band members and lead singers, especially, um, like Petra is just one of those bands that, and I think it's just because I liked him so much back in the day.

I think it did... 85% create a new band for sure.

mean, you, you still had the, you still had like some of the same, you know, Bob Hartman songwriting stuff, you know, some of the same keyboard sounds at times.

But yeah, I mean, if you go back and listen to more power to you and then listen to beyond belief, they're very different, very different.

That was, that was the thing that came most naturally to me about teaching, and everything else was awful.

[laughs] Uh, then I went to Spring Harvest and watched Bob, Bob Hartman telling a story, uh, and had a moment of epiphany.

I just thought, "I want to be up there doing that." Didn't know that was a thing before.

So I approached him afterwards and said, "H- How do you get to do what you do?" Uh, and he was lovely to me and took me under his wing.

That was, that was the thing that came most naturally to me about teaching, and everything else was awful.
