Bob Bostad

Well, we had a running joke.

So Bob Bostad, who was our O-line coach through Wisconsin, right when we had, you know, You know, I mean, some some really good dudes.

I mean, like 14, 15 guys drafted in the NFL from that team.

Now he's the O-line coach in Indiana.

But I don't need Marcus Freeman to say what I'm saying.

I don't need Marcus Freeman to publicly wonder why Emile Wagner didn't improve the way he needed to or why was Pat Coogan better in one year under Bob Bostad than he was under Joe Rudolph.

It could be that Joe Rudolph's influence helped him be better.

You know, like, there's all these different things that you look at and say, I don't want Marcus Freeman calling Joe Rudolph out publicly, just like I don't want Marcus Freeman going out there and talking about how this player can't do this or can't do that.

Well, yeah.

I mean, the fact of this, I think the other kid thing about him, I think he's a pretty smart player, but I go back to the fact that what Bob Bostad has done as the offensive line coach at Indiana and how he's prepared these kids to take that next step.

So there's a prime example of he'd had him for one year after he went out there, got him better and got him point where he was playing top notch ball to the point where he's in the NFL, because he's a little, probably a little bit smarter than some of the other guys.

And I think that's goes to coach ability to not a good prepared kids to play, but understanding video technique and stuff like that.

And so that's something that really bonded us for, I mean, shoot, for forever now.

You got the back end of Bob Bostad, too, did you not? I'm fascinated by Bob Bostad.

I mean, just what he did with those lines.

Well, I was going to say, yeah.

I mean, you guys were rolling.

At that point.

Yeah, Coach Bostad is such a good offensive line coach, but you needed to be mentally strong to play for a Bob Bostad.

Yes.

You go and you get somebody like Bryant Haynes.

I don't think Bob Bostad is leaving Indiana to be the co-OC or anything like that.

You can get him on the offensive line.

That's great.

They didn't do that this year.

Outside of Bruner, these are all players that Indiana either recruited or in the last cycle or have been on the roster for a while working with Bob Bostad.

So you look down the list of the players that are on the roster and are listed as depth pieces, and you've got three redshirt freshmen in Baylor Wilkin, Evan Parker, and Matt Merrick.

You've got a redshirt sophomore in Austin Leibfried, and you've got Sam Simpson, who's a true freshman.

That does look like a unit that may not have a huge amount of depth, but again, I'll note that no one really was necessarily looking at Ajani as someone who was going to step in and play as much as he did last year.

You got to have some faith in Bob Bostad to develop internally.

And again, the fact they didn't go out and get any depth pieces on the O-line.

tells me that A, there were no players of that caliber in the portal, and B, that they feel pretty good about what they've got coming up behind all of these redshirt seniors that are starting on the line for Indiana.

We've been very high about their offense.

We've said that they have the best offensive line coach in the game in Bob Bostad.

We think they have one of, if not the two best coordinator combos in the game in Mike Shanahan and Brian Haynes.

Brian, earlier in the show, you said you thought Brian Haynes was the best in the business right now at defensive coordinator.
