One of the best that reveals the direction that Jimmy was probably heading was Blue Wild Angel at the Isle of Wight.

This was a live album released in 2002.

It is a great listen, and Hendrix almost sounds like he has a bit of an English accent that he's adopted, because I was listening to him talking between each song that they were playing, and I'm like, He almost sounds like he's got a little bit of an English accent going on there.
