Blood transfusion

John, just tell us your take on this and give us, uh, some theological insights.

Um, yeah, I mean, so the Jehov- Jehovah's Witnesses were well known for having a policy of not allowing, um, their members to receive blood transfusions.

Correct.

Um, their reasoning for that is because, um, actually they want to take the Bible really seriously, and they look at verses in the Old Testament which talk about not eating blood, that speak about the preciousness of blood.

It never would've been in view back then.

And yeah, never would've been in view.

Um, there's an irony of course that actually the preciousness of blood is that it gives life, and that's actually what blood transfusions do.

Do give, yeah.
